short stop
Shortstop is a 3 piece rock band from Northern Michigan. Vaughn, Elmer and Joey aren’t old enough to drive yet, but they’re but are quickly accelerating down the music runway with classic rock recaps, 90s grunge favorites and homegrown original tunes.
Bassist Elmer plays electric bass in the high school jazz lab and middle school concert band. He plays the double bass in the Dorothy Gerber Youth Orchestra, loves to water ski and play soccer.
Elmer and Vaughn met at preschool and have been rocking out ever since. Summer of 2024 they began as a duo with Vaughn on drums and vocals. Since his childhood Vaughn has been into music and never stops jamming! Vaughn plays hockey and through his action on the ice, met Joey, who plays lead guitar in the band.
Joey has always been involved in music. He started playing the ukulele at age 8 before adding piano and trombone to the mix. Now a power trio, Shortstop is melting faces with their talent and showmanship.
Alt-rock teen sensations, Shortstop are rocking out in Bellaire! Years from their drivers' licenses, these cool kids project 90s angst into the atmosphere with covers from Nirvana, the White Stripes, and more. Show some extra love for original tunes from Elk Rapids youngest singer-songwriters, Vaughn, Elmer, and Joey.
Scott Foor
Real stories, no gloss.
Scott Foor is a singer/songwriter and guitarist whose music is rooted in real life. It is equal parts hard work and heartache.
Born in a small town near Saginaw, MI, Scott’s earliest musical influence came from family gatherings where his grandmother would play Hank Williams and Willie Nelson. Those formative sounds influenced his musical storytelling with honesty and tradition. Like his hero, John Prine, Scott finds meaning in everyday life. His artistic voice transmutes the ordinary into something lasting and resonant.
Two years ago, Scott relocated to Traverse City, where he began carving out his path in the music scene. Through countless open mic nights, he found his voice and the confidence to tell his stories the way they were meant to be told; unfiltered and unapologetic.
Scott’s work has grit; it’s honest, lived-in, and palpably real. Look no further for music that’s unpretentious, heartfelt, and true.
This program is supported in part by an award from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
