community +

connection

Crosshatch works in the arts and in farming and ecology, but what really drives us are the spaces where it all overlaps. In this space lies the root of being connected to place, and building rural communities that are thriving with culture.

PROGRAM GOALS

1

Connect artists, land owners, farmers, and the community in interdisciplinary thinking.

2

Help artists tell the story of rural places by connecting them to community elders.

3

Support both farmers and artists with diversified income streams.

land-based projects

Land-based projects connect directly with the land, blending agriculture, creativity, and sustainability. They could be community gardens, nature centers, artist residencies, public art, or agritourism offerings. Our efforts bring people together to dream up and develop strategies for implementing this work. Gathering farmers, landowners, artists, and community members in one room offers opportunities to collaborate and realize big projects.
