Tour DanuHof Farm, then roll up your sleeves and learn step-by-step how to process your own chicken.
Danu Hof is a family farm in Mancelona, MI, rooted in regenerative agriculture — raising heritage breed pork, pasture-raised chicken, and seasonal produce using organic practices. At Danu Hof, animals are raised with intention: healthy soil, ethical animal care, and a deep commitment to local food are at the heart of everything they do.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll spend the day with farm owners Caitlin and Larry, starting with a tour of the farm before rolling up your sleeves and working through the full poultry processing line. You'll be part of every stage of the process and go home with a bird you processed yourself, plus practical tips on storage and cooking, and a few of their favorite recipes to try.
This experience is about more than just learning a skill — it's about getting to know where your food comes from, supporting a farm that's doing things the right way, and feeling more confident and connected in the kitchen and beyond.
Attendees are welcome to bring water, coffee, and a packed lunch — there will be time and space to enjoy a picnic on the farm.
Meet Your Instructors:
Caitlin and Larry were born and raised in Michigan, with a longstanding dream of owning a family farm. With backgrounds in hospitality and culinary arts, they witnessed firsthand how much the source and raising of food matters — and felt called to be part of bringing back the small family farm and a healthier local food system.
In 2017, they found their dream just north of Mancelona, Michigan. They moved their family that October and haven't looked back since, pouring their energy into breathing new life into the land and their rural community.
