Katey Schultz
Katey Schultz is an amazing writer. Period. I have never met an author who is so thoughtful and meticulous about her craft—she writes, and rewrites, and rewrites again to give us magic on the page.
Katey is a prose writer who can create an entire story, complete with a detailed setting, nuanced characters, and a surprising plotline, all within a few pages. And, if that wasn’t enough, she writes like a poet—every other line is beautiful, the kind that make you pause, or even gasp.
Katey was kind enough to share a video of her reading “America’s at the Mall,” one of the short stories from her Flashes of War collection. And here’s a brief discussion on her website about the book, including her decision to write this collection of stories about the Afghan and Iraq war and how that writing process unfolded.
If you can make it, you’ll want to come to Bee Well in Bellaire, MI on May 27 at 7 pm to see her in person. Trust me: it will be a great night.
