Maintaining a healthy farm or garden starts with the soil. Healthy soil means vibrant produce for eating and selling. Two of the best ways to build the nutrient density of our soils is through composting and mulching.
Join John Biernbaum, who's been working with soil science for 40+ years, as he goes through the many techniques for how to build soil health, including:
- How to use hay, straw, leaves, ramial wood chips and charcoal
- How to sheet compost
- How to make straw bale or lasagna gardening beds
- How to make and utlilize hegelkulturs
- How to make keyhole gardens
- Discussing benefits of raised beds and container growing (buckets, barrels, bags, boxes)
These methods can be done with or without larger power equipment, making this workshop ideal for both garden and farm scale growers.
Cost: $30. Register here. Questions? Contact Jeannie.
