Beekeeping with Meghan Milbrath

  • Bear Creek Organic Farm 4012 Atkins Road Petoskey, MI, 49770 United States (map)

Meghan Milbrath returns to Petoskey to work with beekeepers on a variety of beekeeping topics. Come for just the morning or just the afternoon, or stay all day!

Session One (10am-12pm): Get your new hive to take off!  Best management practices to maximize growth and health of a newly established colony. This workshop, designed for those starting new hives, will focus on how to get your nuke to take off this season. We will discuss basic needs for health and how to improve your chances of getting a first year colony to survive through winter.

Session Two (1pm-4pm): Best management practices for the already established hive.  This afternoon session will focus on best management practices for overwintered colonies.  Meghan Milbrath will delve deeper into methods to maximize production, splits, mite control, and fall re-queening.

A simple lunch is included in the price of the ticket and will be served between sessions. Participants in both sessions will be invited for cross-over conversation.
